Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data.

Last updated: 25 April 2026

Castleford Hire Centre (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a trading name of BRANE-TEC LIMITED. We are committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about how we use it. This policy explains what data we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and what your rights are under UK data protection law.

1. Who we are

The data controller is BRANE-TEC LIMITED, trading as Castleford Hire Centre, registered office at Hunt St, Castleford, West Yorkshire, WF10 1NS.

If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is used, you can contact us by email at info@castlefordhirecentre.co.uk or by phone on 01977 513821.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as required by UK data protection law.

2. What data we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and where relevant your company name and delivery address.
  • Booking details — information about the equipment you wish to hire, the dates and times, and any notes you provide.
  • Technical data — your device type, browser, IP address, and the pages you visit, collected automatically when you browse the site.

We do not collect special-category data (such as health or biometric information), and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

3. Why we collect it

We use your personal data to:

  • Process and respond to your booking enquiries (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
  • Reply to messages you send us via the contact form or callback request (lawful basis: legitimate interest)
  • Operate, secure and improve the website (lawful basis: legitimate interest)
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, such as keeping records for tax (lawful basis: legal obligation)

We do not use your data for marketing without your consent, and we do not run any automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Who we share it with

We may share your personal data with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the website and manage your booking. These include hosting, analytics, customer relationship management, and form-handling services. We require these providers to use your data only for the purposes we have agreed and to keep it secure.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it for marketing purposes.

We may disclose your personal data if required to do so by law — for example, to respond to a court order or to protect our legal rights.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies to operate the site — for example, to remember the contents of your basket while you browse.
  • Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used, so we can improve it. Where possible, we use analytics that do not identify individual users.
  • Third-party content — some pages embed content from other services (for example, an interactive Google Map on our Contact page) which may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect parts of the website.

6. International transfers

Some of the service providers we use are based outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place under UK data protection law — such as standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or transfers to countries the UK considers to provide an adequate level of protection.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, and to comply with our legal obligations.

For booking enquiries and related correspondence this is typically up to six years, in line with HMRC record-keeping requirements. Technical and analytics data is held for a shorter period and aggregated where possible. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

8. CCTV at our premises

We operate CCTV at our Hunt St premises for the prevention and detection of crime and for the safety of our customers and staff. Footage is recorded continuously and held for a limited period — typically no longer than 30 days — after which it is automatically overwritten.

Footage is reviewed only when there is a specific reason to do so (for example, investigating an incident) and is only disclosed where required by law or requested by the police as part of a formal enquiry. Notices are displayed at the premises to let visitors know that CCTV is in operation.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
  • Request deletion of your data in certain circumstances
  • Restrict or object to our processing in certain circumstances
  • Receive your data in a portable format, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis we rely on

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one calendar month. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's supervisory authority for data protection:

  • Online: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
  • By phone: 0303 123 1113
  • By post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF

11. Changes to this policy
